How to Grow Your Business Through COVID-19

How to Grow Your Business

At Ford Office Technologies, we understand that times are hard right now. As someone who’s helped your business grow, you are no stranger to hard work. But chances are that this year has been especially challenging for your business, as it has been for countless others across the country. However, whether you still have locations closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic or are trying to find solid footing while operating at limited capacity, you can still grow your business through this strange and difficult time. And we hope these tips and resources will help.

Adapt to the New Normal

The first step is to figure out how you can modify your business operations to accommodate the new normal.

  • Consider transitioning some of your employees to remote work.
  • Change your marketing tactics, such as doubling down on social media advertising.
  • Update your website or completely redo it to engage visitors and provide everything they need to know about your company.
  • Restructure your delivery methods. For example, if you have brick-and-mortar locations, you can offer customers curbside pickup for online orders so they don’t have to wait for their items to ship.
  • Get any physical locations ready for reopening.

Get Your Money Right

Even companies with multi-millions in revenue should evaluate their financial standing and look for ways to improve it.

  • Revisit your business budget to see what expenses you can cut.
  • Determine what you should be spending money on (e.g., IT services, new products/services, safety and sanitation).
  • Register your business as a limited liability company for tax benefits and asset protection.

Stay Focused on the Customer

Customers are still the heartbeat of your business, so don’t lose sight of them as you figure out how to adjust.

  • Communicate with your current customers through email and social media about how you’re responding to the pandemic and what changes you are implementing.
  • Listen to the opinions of customers about what they need and how you can improve.
  • Think of pandemic-specific products you could add to your offerings (e.g., hand sanitizer, face coverings, pet supplies, etc.).
  • Continue to expand your customer base through marketing, promotions, big sales, and so on.

While this is a hard time even for large businesses, there are ways that you can put your company in a position for growth. Consider what changes you can make to adapt to the new normal, figure out your finances, and remember your customers at every turn. Implementing these tips and resources in your operations might just help you regain your footing and maintain your long-term success.
